EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said only 1,390,519 Nigerians are eligible to vote in the 2023 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this on Wednesday in Abuja during a press conference.
According to him, 45 percent of total registered voters in the country are invalid.
He said only 1,390,519 Nigerians have valid permanent voters card (PVCs) across the country.
“This is a challenging development,” Yakubu added.
He also said that only 10 of the 18 registered political parties have notified the commission of their primaries.

He urged the remaining parties to do the needful and for all the parties to strictly allow the electoral laws and other guidelines.
The country’s general elections is scheduled to hold next year.
