For many, Nigeria is a pariah nation that has been ostracized by many countries and its citizens viewed with a tinge of scorn and disrepute, Many Nigerians even believe Nigeria has been banned by every country in the world. That may be funny in a dark way, but this isn’t true. There is a good number of countries to which Nigerians can travel without needing visas immediately. Also, many think only developing countries can leave their doors that open. That is not always the case. Some really nice countries are visa-free.
1. Cambodia
Populated by over 15 million people, Cambodia is officially known as the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is a fascinating country that shares borders with Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Cambodia offers a 30-day visa on arrival awoof to Nigerians. There is so much you can do in 30 days if you ask me.
2. Mauritius
This fascinating East African country of 1.2 million inhabitants is well-known for its beautiful beaches and exceptional wildlife. Mauritius offers Nigerians visa-free entry for up to 90 days. I don’t think any Nigerian needs a 90-day vacation, so this is more than enough time to travel and look around. However, make sure to have the required volume of dollar cash to avoid being turned back by immigration.
3. The Gambia
When Nigeria abroad interviewed people there on how they are coping and how life is for them, the consensus was that they were enjoying themselves in the Gambia. This beautiful country nestled between Senegal and the Atlantic Ocean is visa-free to Nigerians for up to 90 days. With the country’s population of 2 million people, anyone tired of Lagos should be packing their bags to go there.
4. Kenya
Not only does Kenya offer a visa-free entry for up to 90 days but also a round trip is around N170,000 (the naira is daily growing weaker recently though). It is no secret that Kenya is the safari capital of Africa and if you happen to find yourself in Nairobi, there are lots of things you can do for fun. Touring Kenya is also an exciting idea.
5. Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka offers visa on arrival for up to 30 days. The country which was formally known as Ceylon is notable for its vast tea plantations. So, you get to enjoy your vacation and immerse yourself in the luxury of exotic wildlife, beautiful beaches and countless flavors of tea. Not a bad idea for your year’s vacation.
6. Maldives
Even the name sounds like you will be having lots of fun when you visit. Maldives offers 90-day visa-free entry to Nigerians. This means you have three months to explore its over one thousand islands; and it helps a lot that the flight ticket is affordable. All you need to do is pack your hat and sunglasses and maybe your sunscreen for all the good time you will be having.
7. Barbados
Barbados offers you visa-free entry for up to 6 months; unbelievable right? I know. The good thing about this country is that you can apply for a work permit in that 6 months. Now you get to have your vacation in all its beautiful beaches and spend some time working which, if you ask me, is another form of socializing and getting to know the country and its people.
8. Dominica
The Dominican Republic as it is often referred to is a sovereign state in the Greater Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Region. It offers visa-free entry for up to 21 days, which some might consider insufficient. But if you have had a really long year and want to travel to another country on a budget, 21 days is just enough time to experience a new country.
9. Burundi
With one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world, Burundi offers a 30-day visa-free entry. In 30 days, you get to really explore the country’s national park with all kinds of wild animals and soak in all the vitamins the sun has to offer on the beaches. It is also said that Burundi’s exquisite dishes are something everyone should have a taste of. Totally worth it if you ask me.
10. Bangladesh
The first thing you should know about Bangladesh’s visa-free entry which, by the way, lasts 30 days is that it is not an opportunity to sneak into India. That is illegal and if caught you can be jailed. Nigerians haven’t been in the best terms with Bangladesh, evident in the series of complaints from that country—with citizens calling for a ban against our citizens. But for our compatriots with good intentions who want to buy cheap children’s clothes for sale, Bangladesh is the country for you, with a 30-day visa-free entry.
All these countries even with their offers have terms and conditions by which foreigners must abide. So, it is important you read up on all the rules you need to follow, to avoid going from vacation to serving a jail term.
Goodluck!
