George Obiozor the president of Ndigbo group passed on at the age of 80.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the President General of the apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor, has been pronounced dead.
The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, made this known in a statement on his Instagram page on Wednesday night.

The statement released by the Imo governor titled, ‘Imo State Government Obituary Announcement’ said the late diplomat died after a brief illness.
Governor Uzodinma disclosed that the burial arrangement of the late Ohanaeze Ndigbo president will be announced in due course by the family.

- Obiozor was born on August 15, 1942 (80 years old) in Awo-Omamma, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria
- The late Obiozor had his education at Awo-Omamma Comprehensive Secondary School from 1959 to 1963.
- He attended the Institute of African Studies, Geneva Switzerland in 1967 for a Diploma Programme. He went on to the University of South Tacoma Washington USA where he obtained a B.A.(Hons) Political Science in 1968.
- Obiozor obtained a Master’s degree from Columbia University, New York in International Law and Organisation; M. Phil in International Affairs in 1974, and finally, a doctorate in International Affairs in 1976.
- The late Ohanaeze Ndigbo President was a renowned academic, diplomat, statesman, and patriot
- Obiozor was the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Africa’s foremost foreign policy think tank.
- He was also the Special Adviser, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Special Assistant to the President on International Affairs in 1990
- He was a former High Commissioner to Cyprus, former Nigeran Ambassador to Israel (1999 – 2003), and ex-Ambassador to the United States (2004 – 2008).
- Obiozor was a recipient of the Ugwumba 1 of Orlu in 1991 and a recipient of the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON)
- The late Professor was elected as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo on January 9, 2021.
