Herdsmen Attack Benue Community

Tragedy struck the Azege settlement in Mbaya, Tombo Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, as suspected herdsmen launched a deadly early morning attack on Sunday, claiming 13 lives and leaving many injured.

The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community around 7 a.m., targeting residents as they prepared for church service. Witnesses described the attack as brutal and coordinated, with women and children among the casualties.

Farmlands were also destroyed in the raid, further threatening the livelihoods of the predominantly farming community. Survivors lamented the devastating loss of lives and crops, warning of worsening food insecurity in the area.
