13 Suspected Killers Of Kwara Monarch Remanded: Court Orders Detention
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a significant development, a Kwara State Magistrate’s Court in Ilorin, on Wednesday, issued an order for the remand of 13 suspects accused of the alleged murder of Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, the Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area.

The suspects face charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, kidnapping, and providing false information, contravening Sections 97, 221, and 178 of the Penal Code Law of Kwara State, Nigeria, and Section (1) of the Special Prohibition Kidnapping Law of Kwara State 2010.
Among those arraigned before the court are Godwin Jacob, Olowofela Oyebanji, Adefalolu Ayodele, Tewasie Francis, Babatunde Samuel, Godwin Joseph, Issa Number, and Miracle Solomon. Others include Abraham Kehinde, Muhammed Bello, Muhammed Muhammed, Ahmadu Umaru, and Muhammed Dankai.
The Police First Information Report revealed that Aremu Adeyemi reported the murder case of Olukoro to the Eruku Police Division.
According to the FIR, Adeyemi stated, “The suspects pointed a gun at him, ordering him to follow them when he challenged them after noticing their movement around his grandson. He said his grandson escaped through the backdoor while the suspects proceeded to kill the monarch, kidnapped his wife and one Mercy.”
During court proceedings, the police prosecutor, Abdullah Sanni, informed the court of the motion ex parte attached to the police report, urging the remand of the suspects.
In response, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Monisola Kamson, ruled that the suspects should be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre in Ilorin. The case has been adjourned till March 5, 2024, for further hearing.
