About 14 passengers lost their lives in a Kano road accident.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that no fewer than fourteen people reportedly died from a tragic road accident that happened in Kano State over the weekend.
The command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists moments after the disturbing incident.
It was disclosed that the passengers were burnt to death in the incident, which occurred along the Gaya-Wudil road on Sunday night.
According to the report, the accident involves a Toyota Hummer bus and a Hyundai jeep. The Kano FRSC Sector Commander, Zubairu Mato, confirmed the number of deaths on Tuesday.
Mato noted that road safety officials arrived at the scene at about 7.45 pm on Sunday and found out that the bus with registration number GML 102 TA belonging to Kano Line from Gombe State collided with the Jeep.
He said, “Thirteen passengers were burnt to death on the spot with 6 others injured in the accident.” One of the female passengers reportedly died on Monday morning at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital intensive care unit.
The FRSC commander attributed the accident to overspeeding and dangerous overtaking.
He, therefore, urged drivers always to ensure the use of speed limit devices and avoid dangerous overtaking while driving on highways.
