15 Escape Death As Storey Building Collapses In Kano
Tragedy was averted in the early hours of Wednesday when occupants of a one-storey building that collapsed on Kurna Dangawan Jingau Street in the Dala Local Government Area of Kano State escaped by a whisker.
The occupants were said to have escaped few minutes before the building collapsed around 12.30am.
It was gathered that no fewer than 15 persons were living in the building before it caved in.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saidu Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said only one person was trapped in the building and was rescued.
According to him, the Kurna Fire Station received a distress call around 12.30am that there was a building collapse on Kurna Dangawan Jingau Street.
He said following the report, the service immediately dispatched its rescue team to the scene of the incident and the team discovered that it was a one-storey building that collapsed.
“Only one person was trapped in the building by name, Abdulrashid Danjuma, who is about 45 years old,” Mohammed stated.
He said the victim, who had with minor injuries, was rushed to the Rukayya Hospital for treatment.
