17 NURTW Members Bailed From Detention By MC Oluomo

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Council Chairman Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka Mc Oluomo) has secured the bail of 17 union members from police custody.

Their bail was made easy following their clearance by the Lagos State Police Command after interrogation.

The Nation learnt that action would be taken on the remaining six in the police custody after the investigation.

Akinsanya and the NURTW State Council Deputy Chairman Sulaimon Ojora also signed as witnesses to the undertaking signed by the feuding factions of the Lagos Island Branch of the union.

Among those who signed the undertaking were NURTW State Council Treasurer Adekunle Mustapha (aka Sego), former NURTW Idumota Branch Chairman, Azeez Lawal (aka Kunle Poly), Rafiu Bashorun (aka Abija), Abu Arogunmasa (aka Abu stainless), Samshudeen (aka Onikeke), Michael Keizer (aka Jega) and Jubril Kabiawu.

The NURTW boss had recently dissolved the Lagos Island Branch ‘C’ of the union following the incessant fighting in the area that has led to the death of some people.

Akinsanya said the dissolution became the necessary having tried unsuccessfully to pacify leadership of the branch to unite.

He promised the Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu that those bailed would not be found wanting.

He warned them not to involve in any crisis, hence won’t hesitate to hand whoever commits a crime to the police for proper action.

Besides that, Akinsanya said the union would also discipline such a person.

According to him, unity and peaceful co-existence among the union members was his ultimate goal.

Progress, he said, cannot be achieved in a crisis-prone atmosphere.
