18 Nigerian Nurses Charged By Texas Board Of Nursing Over Fake Credentials

18 Nigerian nurses have come to be charged by the Texas authorities in the United States over certificate forgery.

On the website for the Texas Board of Nursing, 23 individuals were indicted for the crime, 18 of which are Nigerian.

According to the Board, an investigation revealed that the suspects had been involved in a grand fraudulent diploma/transcript scheme that enabled them to obtain fake nursing credentials.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that a total of 18 nurses from Nigeria residing in Texas, United States have been charged by the Texas Board of Nursing for obtaining fraudulent educational credentials.
The Board made this known in a statement published on its website, which listed the names of 23 individuals who had been indicted with fake certificates, with 18 of them being Nigerian nurses.

According to the Board, an investigation revealed that the suspects had been involved in a grand fraudulent diploma/transcript scheme, which enabled them to obtain fake nursing credentials that they then used to sit for the national nursing board exam.
The statement also clarified that the formal charges filed against the offenders were not a final disciplinary action, and as such, they were still permitted to work as nurses pending the outcome of the charges.
The names of the indicted Nigerian nurses include Abiodun Yetunde Felicia; Adelakun Abiodun Aveez; Adelekan Joseph Adewale; Adeoye Vivien Temitope; Adewale Modinat Abidemi; Afolabi, Olufemi Toun; Afolabi Omowunmi F; Agbo Odumegwu Steve; Ajibade Charlot Omotayo; Akande Olabisi Christiana; Akhigbe Catherine; Akinrolabu, Folasade Margaret; Ako Esiri Rachael; Akpan Rosemary Moses; Alimi Bukola A; Ani Ndirika Justina; Aroh Nchekwube C.; and Ayodeji Sherifat Olubunmi.
Other non-Nigerian nurses named in the scandal are Abanda Jacob Atambili; Addai Agnes Fosuah; Anaaba Awingrug Musah; Anthony-Annor, and Spendilove; Asanga, Albert Nshanui.
The Board stated that the list would be updated continuously as it received additional information about the fraudulent diploma/transcript scheme.
The charges filed against the indicted individuals are serious and if found guilty, could lead to severe disciplinary actions including the revocation of their nursing licenses.

The Board is authorized to file Formal Charges against a nurse if probable cause exists that the nurse has committed an act listed in Tex. Occ. Code §301.452(b) or that violates other law. See Tex. Please note that Formal Charges are not a final disciplinary action, and a nurse is permitted to work, as a nurse, while Formal Charges are pending.”
