Epe Division Education Sector Wins Big At The 2020 District III Annual Merit Awards

Education District III under the quintessential leadership of Dr Mrs Olufolayimika Ayandele Abiose, found it fitting to reward some outstanding schools across the district.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, Schools, Education Officials and Administrators from Epe Division clinched several awards in various categories.

Schools in the District traverses four Local Governments in the State which includes Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, Eti-Osa, and Lagos Island, Lagos State.

The event, which was held on Thursday 11th March 2020 at Education District III Headquarters, Falomo, Ikoyi, saw Ogunmodede College clinch the Best School (Senior category), Mr Olusegun Osinaike won the Best Principal, Epe Girls’ Junior won the best Junior School, Epe Girls’ Senior clinched the Best 100% school in WASSCE 2020, while Odomola Secondary School won the most beautiful school. Lagos State Senior Model College, Agbowa clinched the best WASSCE result while Mrs Adefuye Mosunmola was honoured as the Best District Officer, Mrs Akande A.O came second as Best VP, Mr Ashaolu O.J clinched the best HOD and Mr Kassim Y.A (Leecrown) deservedly won the Best Teacher. Prizes presented at the award occasion include plaques, cash prizes and certificates.

In her welcome address, the TG/PS, Dr Ayandele harped on the need for effective learning to be rooted in schools, stating that learning must be such that endears students to leave home for school.

“We must ensure that effective learning takes place in a conducive environment. Students must be happy to come to school to learn. We must support them in various ways so that these children can have total development”, she said.

While Dr Ayandele described District III as thriving with seasoned professionals where hard work is being appreciated, she saluted the courage of teachers across the district, describing them as ” a handful of United community of the larger professionals that leads education district III to glow”.

Speaking further, she lamented the fact that strict adherence to COVID protocols restrained her from having an elaborate ceremony. She however assured that a bigger celebration awaits everyone the following year as the curve continues to be flattened.

The spectacular performance of Education District III in Lagos State 2020 WASSCE is not unconnected to the unparalleled professionalism of Epe teachers.
The awards, therefore, will in no little capacity inspire professionalism and entrench continuous improvements of the education sector in Epe Division and Lagos at large.
