Group Lauds NUJ For Appointment of Aregbesola As Grand Patron
A civic group, the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths has hailed the Southwest Zone of the Nigeria Union of Journalists for honouring Nigeria’s minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola as its Grand Patron.
EKO HOT BLOG had earlier reported that the Southwest Zone of the apex union of professional journalists in Nigeria is set to honour the former Osun State governor for his exemplary leadership and numerous contributions to the growth of journalism in the region.
The GCYY in a statement described Aregbesola as “a renowned human rights activist and revolutionary leader of all seasons” who deserves the special honour and award.
The group reckons that the conferment of the title of grand patron and an award of excellence aptly underscores Aregbesola’s service to humanity and landmark achievements.
In a press release issued by its President-General, Comrade Awa Bamiji, the GCYY called on various groups including members of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Youths’ and Students’ Organizations, and all patriotic Nigerians, to turn out en masse to celebrate the Minister at the forthcoming investiture.
“It is on this note, we are calling on members of various credible Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Youths’ and Students’ Organizations, as well as all Patriotic Nigerians, to join us in rolling out the drums and blaring the trumpets to celebrate this renowned human rights’ activist and revolutionary leader of all seasons and the organizers (NUJ Southwest Zone), on this occasion as scheduled”, Bamiji said.
