COVID-19 Vaccination Update for May 4 2021 In 36 States & the FCT

  • The Nigerian government had said it plans to vaccinate 109 million people against the COVID-19 virus over a period of two years.

So far, 1,246,845 persons have received their first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Nigeria on Wednesday.

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) disclosed this via its verified twitter handle.

According to the data, Lagos, the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria, takes the lead with 235,580 persons already vaccinated which accounts for over 92 percent of its target population.

This is followed by FCT with 76,588 persons vaccinated, Kaduna – 65,157, Katsina – 62,959 and Ogun with 56,611 vaccinated persons.

Since its outbreak in the Nigeria, over 160,000 infections and 2,063 fatalities have been recorded from the COVID-19 virus. The country has, however, seen a drop in the number of fatalities lately.
