A Celestial Church prophet, Kehinde Salami, 25 and a prophetess, Yetunde Akinola, 42, have been remanded on the orders of an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly forcing a 16-year-old housemaid to swallow an iron cross for spiritual cleansing.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge but admitted that they gave the complainant an iron cross to swallow for deliverance from witchcraft.

She added that the sureties must be blood relatives of the defendants and live within the court’s jurisdiction.
Earlier, the Police prosecutor, Sergeant Kenrich Nomayo, alleged the defendants attempted to kill one Miss Angelina Moses, by telling her to swallow an iron cross against her wish.
Nomayo told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 24 at 4p.m. at their residence.
He said the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach peace by claiming to foresee a particular vision for the complainant.
“As we speak, we do not know the state of the complainant as she is still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital,” he said
The magistrate adjourned the case until April 30 for DPP advice.
