The Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has given cash support to 2,000 women in Epe and nearby communities to help them cope with the current economic hardship.
Ekohotblog reports that the beneficiaries, selected from the eight political wards in the council, received the financial assistance as part of the council’s welfare programme aimed at supporting vulnerable residents.
Speaking during the distribution, Princess Animashaun said the support was to ease the struggles of women who are working hard to care for their families.
She said her administration understands the difficulties people are facing and decided to step in with some help. According to her, this initiative is to bring relief to women who need it the most.
“We know that many women are struggling to feed their families and keep their small businesses running. This cash support will help them in any way they choose – whether to buy food, invest in their business, or settle other needs,” she said.
Princess Animashaun also said her focus remains on social welfare, education, and infrastructure, which she believes are important for the development of Epe.
“Our goal is to build a better future where families are happy, businesses grow, and people have access to the basic things they need to live well,” she said.
Some of the women who received the support expressed gratitude. Mrs Alake Muibat from Ward B said the money would help her restock her small shop.
“I am really thankful. Things have been tough, but this money will help me buy goods to sell and take care of my children,” she said.
Princess Animashaun assured residents that her administration will continue to work for the good of the people and support those in need.
