Femi Kuti Calls For Sustained Peaceful Protests Against Police Brutality

Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti, has called for sustained peaceful protests against police brutality, with the singer noting that Nigerians must raise their voices against injustice or it would swallow the country as a whole. According to the son of Afrobeat founder, Fela, he is always ready to be a part if Nigerians decide to go stage a peaceful protest against the needless killing of Nigerians by police officers meant to protect them.

Taking to social media to share his thoughts on the latest act of police brutality which led to the shooting to death of a young man named Kolade Johnson, the singer urged Nigerians to raise their voices against the menace.

“I’m over 50, but I think we should all raise our voices against injustice or it will swallow us all eventually. A peaceful protest organized very well count me in,” the “Truth Don Die” singer wrote in a tweet. His emphasis on age was in response to a Twitter user, Dapo Tuburna, having stated that he would like Nigerians between 18 and 50 years old to stage a long walk in protest.
