The Lagos State Government has assured the Monarch of Owu-Ikosi, Oba Nelson Olayomi Aderemi Ogunlaru of the speedy completion of the intended relocation of Oko-Baba Sawmill to Agbowa-Ikosi in the eastern part of the State.
The assurance was given by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako during a courtesy visit by the Oba of Owu-Ikosi to the Ministry in Alausa on Wednesday.
Salako assured that the planned relocation of the sawmill would not become an abandoned project, given the pedigree of the present administration for completing inherited projects in order to engender steady development of the State
He recalled that the Timberville project, conceived for the relocation of the Okobaba sawmill to Agbowa, was initiated to find a lasting solution to environmental concerns posed by the activities of the sawmill in Ebute-Metta
He stated that the log preparation and boom areas were ready for use, while the link road that would facilitate easy access to the site was receiving attention from the government.
The Physical Planning Commissioner stated that the government was in constant engagement with the sawmillers who had expressed their readiness to relocate to Agbowa
