The National Assembly has commenced the joint hearing of 2020 Appropriation Bill presented by President Muhammadu Buhari at a joint session earlier this month.
The joint hearing which involved both the Senate and House of Representative Committee on the 2020 Appropriations Bill was declared open by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday.
The event had in attendance Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Ministers and heads of government agencies and parastatals as well as members of the National Assembly from the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna, delivered a keynote address on the 2020 budget.
She revealed that the 2020 budget proposal consists of Statutory transfer – N556.7 billion, Non-debt recurrent expenditure – N4.88 trillion, Capital Expenditure- N2.14 trillion, Debt service – N2.45 trillion, and Sinking fund – N296billion.
