2020: The Year That Claimed The Lives Of 4 Legends

The World has experienced unexpected events, occurrences which were mostly tragedies in the past eleven months but amidst this we also lost some iconic personalities.
A few celebrities who captivated our hearts with their performances sadly passed away this year putting the world in greater sorrow, checkout four outstanding icons who passed away in 2020.
Majek Fashek
Majekodumi Fasheke is an iconic reggae artiste mostly known for his award winning single “send down the rain”.
Popularly known as Majek Fashek by his fans the singer and songwriter was born and raised in Benin city, Edo state and he rose to become Nigeria’s top reggae artiste after his song “send down the rain” became a huge hit and in 1991 his single “so long too long” was topping the charts once again.
He passed away June 1, 2020 in New York City at age 57 after battling with cancer of the oesophagus.
Kobe Bryant
Arguably one of the greatest basketballers of all time, Kobe Bryant was a man loved by many people worldwide.
He came into limelight in 1996 and played most of his carrier with Los Angeles Lakers, he gave himself the nickname ‘Black Mamba’ in the mid 2000s, a name which became well adopted and recognized throughout his carrier.
Kobe Bryant died at age 41 on January 26, 2020 alongside his daughter and 7 other persons following a helicopter crash.

Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman came achieved international fame in 2018 after debuting as a Marvel character in an iconic show which went on to break records.
After introducing himself into the MCU in 2018 when he starred as the main character in the movie “Black Panther”, Chadwick Baseman’s name was on everyone’s mouth.
However before this fame came, Chadwick was diagnosed with colon cancer way back in 2016 but kept the it private and continued acting.
Boseman went on to work on several other movies which includes Marshall, Da 5 Bloods, Avengers: Infinity war, Avengers: Endgame etc.
He passed away on August 28, 2020 at the age of 43 from complications related to colon cancer and was survived by his wife and family.
Diego Maradona
Hailed as one of the greatest players to have ever graced the beautiful game of football, Diego Armando Maradona is an icon who’s deeply loved and respected.
He almost singlehandedly won the world cup for Argentina in 1986 against Germany after scoring his now infamous “Hand of God” goal.
On 2 November 2020, Diego went through an urgent brain surgery to treat subdural hematoma and was subsequently discharged after the surgery was confirmed successful, but on the 25th of November Diego Maradona passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.
These icons might be gone, but they’ll forever remain in our hearts as we continue to remember them for all the great moments they gave to us, may their soul rest in perfect peace.
