28-year-old American tourist, Andrew Stevens will be laid to rest next week by the community of Mermaid and Mermen.
Stevens who is a native of San Francisco and a mermaid enthusiast, died after he was harpooned by Philippines local fishermen who mistook him for a large fish because he was wearing a colorful mermaid tail that sparked the confusion.
The Manila police spokesman said “the victim died after receiving 127 stab wounds from the harpoons and was found with a large hook stuck in his left cheek.”
A fisherman who expressed sadness over their inability to catch fish all through the day said “we find very weird that fish has arms and hair and talk English but it all happening so fast”.
They were actually happy when they caught the man but later realised it was a corpse.
