2021 MTV EMA: Wizkid, Tems Shortlisted For ‘Best African Act’
- Wizkid and Tems have been nominated for Best African Act at MTV EMA
- The were nominated alongside Amaarae, Focalistic and Diamond Platnumz
Ekohotblog reports that Ayodeji Balogun popularly called Wizkid and Temilade Openiyi also known as Tems have been nominated for Best African Act at the 2021 MTV EMA awards.
The nominees for the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs) were announced yesterday 20th of October with top African artistes securing nominations ahead of the awards ceremony at Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Budapest, Hungary, on 14 November.

Wizkid and Tems were nominated for the category after the success of ‘Essence’, their collaborative project.
The pair were shortlisted for the category alongside Amaarae, Diamond Platnumz, and Focalistic.
Globally, Justin Bieber is the frontrunner with eight nominations followed by Doja Cat and Lil Nas X with six nods each. British superstar Ed Sheeran and EMA newcomers Olivia Rodrigo and The Kid Laroi follow closely with five nominations apiece.
Reacting to her nomination, Tems said: “I’m extremely excited to be nominated for the Best African Act at the MTV EMAs. The last few years have been crazy and I am just grateful to God for all the blessings so far.
