Woman Arraigned For Pouring Hot Water On Neighbour

Police in Lagos have dragged one Onifunto Ogunsola to court for assaulting her co-tenant.

Ogunshola, a 35-year-old business woman, was arraigned before Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly pouring boiled rice water on her neighbour.

Ogunshola, who has been charged with assault by the police, pleaded not guilty and denied any wrong doing.

According to Prosecution Counsel, ASP Victor Eruada, Ogunshola committed the offence on December 13, 2020 at No. 29 Brown St., Oshodi, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant injured her neighbour, Kausarat Mathew on her back.

Eruada alleged that Ms. Ogunshola attacked the complainant after a misunderstanding ensued between them.

The prosecutor said that Ms. Mathew was in the hospital receiving treatment for burns.

he averred that the offence was a contravention of the provisions of Section 246 of Lagos state 2015 Criminal Law which carries seven years imprisonment for causing grievous harm.

Ekohotblog gathered that Magistrate M.O. Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until February 2, for mention.
