2023: APC Accredits Pro-Osinbajo Group

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accredited the ‘Progressives Consolidation Group’, a group rooting for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to emerge as the party’s flagbearer.

The group got the APC national secretariat’s approval, in a letter signed by the Director of Administration, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman.

It was the first support group to be accorded such recognition by the party and may signal a plan by the Party’s top guns to shut out other contestants in the race.

The only obstacle the group has to work full throttle for an Osinbajo presidency is the Vice President himself.

Meanwhile, co-ordinator of the Progressive Civil Society Group, Bala Gide, an arm that works directly with the Progressives Consolidation Group, noted that the formal letter of recognition has further emboldened them to work harder.

He stressed: “An October 4, 2021 letter issued by the APC and titled ‘Letter of Recognition as Support Group’ formally makes the pro-Osinbajo PCG the first 2023 presidential mobilization group to be granted such privilege by the Mai Mala Buni leadership of APC.”

He expressed optimism that the Osinbajo Presidency will be realized.
