2023: APC Denies Attacking Atiku’s Convoy
APC Campaign Council has reacted to the attack on Atiku’s convoy.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has distanced the party’s supporters from the attack on the convoy of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in Borno State.
This online media platform earlier reported that gunshots were heard in Maiduguri which sent a group of PDP supporters running in different directions to escape from the sporadic shootings.

It was gathered that the hoodlums vandalized vehicles in the convoy of Atiku at the venue of the PDP presidential rally, Ramat Square in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Speaking on the violence, the spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dino Melaye, claimed that the APC deployed the hoodlums to prevent the PDP’s campaign in the state.
He added that their convoy was pelted with stones, sticks, and machetes as they left the Shehu of Borno’s Palace to the Ramat Square in an attempt to frustrate the programme.
Melaye lamented that the thugs were deployed in many strategic locations ‘’but we want to assure them that nobody can stop us.’’
Reacting to the development, the Director of Media & Publicity of the APC PCC, Bayo Onanauga, refuted the claims by the PDP that the attackers were sponsored by the ruling party.
In a chat with The Punch on Wednesday night, Onanuga said the attack could be the result of the in-fighting in the Borno State chapter of the PDP, insisting that the APC had no hand in the violence.
He, however, warned the PDP not to link the APC to the attack on Atiku’s campaign, adding that its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, is solely focused on his engagements and tight campaign schedule at the moment.
He said, “I learned the police and Borno APC had issued reactions to the attack. It is a local issue and not part of our campaign. Our assumption is that it must be from the rival party group.
“You know the PDP is factionalised in that state. It could be as a result of in-fighting within the party but it is certainly not an APC affair.”
