Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior, has made his position known on throwing his hat into the ring for 2023 presidential election.
Speaking at a virtual colloquium with the theme: “Africa: Interrogating the Leadership Questions”, Aregbesola said he’s taking things slowly and won’t just declare to run for the presidency without due diligence and proper preparation.
Ekohotblog reports that Aregbesola said he belonged to a group of focused and serious minded politicians who analysed particular situations before joining the fray.

The minister, when asked by a participant if he has plans to contest for the seat of the presidency in 2023, said he had no response to the question.
“I have no response to that. I belong to a group of focused, serious politicians who don’t on their own just jump up and pursue ambitions, I have never done that before and I won’t start that now,” he said.
