Presently, there are reports that Asiwaju Tinubu could run for the office of the presidency in 2023. A move which has been described by some as a step to move the Yorubas forward.
However, the question is, is Tinubu the saviour the Yorubas are waiting for?
What some failed to understand is that, Nigeria is a nation and not a region as it was in the 60s. Any president that gets elected is there to serve the whole nation and not a particular region. So, the whole of Nigeria needs a saviour.
Therefore, the reason why some reportedly hate Obasanjo is that he fails to be tribalistic as the president of Nigeria. Rather, he did works that the whole country will benefit from regardless of the region.
Now, even if Tinubu becomes the president, he will become the president of Nigeria and not Yoruba.

The case of who will become the next president of Nigeria has been largely discussed between the Igbos and the Yorubas. While the Igbos believes it’s their turn to produce the next president, some Yorubas believe it is their time, while others are of the opinion that what Nigeria needs right now is not a president coming from a certain region but electing someone who is capable irrespective of the ethnicity.
