EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Chief Spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Festus Keyamo, has said the naira redesign policy was made for the victory of the party’s flag bearer, Bola Tinubu, to be legitimate and internationally accepted.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s program, The 2023 Verdict on Friday, Keyamo said everyone now knows that Tinubu has no support of the Federal Government, and he is relying basically on the strength and power of Nigerians to vote for him as President.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment slammed some opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members for their support of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s naira swap policy and for believing that the directive is targeted at Tinubu.
Keyamo wondered why PDP members, whom he said had always condemned every policy of President Muhammadu Buhari, were now the ones praising him.
He, however, expressed the belief that the naira redesign of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is divinely designed to give Tinubu a clear victory.
He said: “All of a sudden PDP gets up from nowhere and begins to praise Buhari.
“I say, ‘What a time to be alive.’ ‘Oh, Buhari is an honest man.’ I said, ‘Wait a minute, these are people who have always told Nigerians that Buhari’s integrity is fake; that Buhari is not an honest man.’
“Now, you wake up one morning and you are praising Buhari, because of politics, because you think in your estimation that the policy in place is designed to curtail or to affect or harm your opponent. In that regard, they are cutting their nose to spite their faces.
“They got themselves into a mess and scored an own goal. Now, they are the ones begging Nigerians not to riot, they are now the ones begging Nigerians to support government policy, and opposition. Why? Because in their perception, they think that is against Asiwaju.”
He added: “Now I believe this incident is God’s design for Asiwaju’s victory to be legitimate and internationally accepted because now everybody knows Asiwaju has no official backup, no government support.
“He is relying basically on the strength and power of Nigerians to vote him in. Even the PDP is laughing at him, saying, ‘The government is not supporting you here and there’, but I believe this is divinely designed to give Tinubu a clear victory.“
