2023 Elections: Fresh Protest Takes Over Nigeria’s Capital

  • The aftermath of the February 25 polls continue as Nigerians take to the street in protest in Abuja.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in Abuja, the Capital of Nigeria, Supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have taken to the streets of Abuja to protest against the February 25th presidential and national assembly elections.

The protest started peacefully, with the protesters demanding the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari saves the country from tearing itself.

According to eyewitnesses, the protesters, who had gathered at the Unity Fountain, were carrying placards with inscriptions such as “We stand for justice, we fight for a new Nigeria,” “President Buhari keep your promise,” and “Democracy, not INECcracy – who owns Nigeria? The people.”

The demonstrators, who were mostly youths, accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of rigging the elections in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
