EKO HOT BLOG reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met with Mallam Mamman Daura, nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Jonathan met with Daura, who is regarded as the leader of Cabal, inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Sources claimed that the former President’s meeting was to seek endorsement to become the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as Daura and other cabal members promised Jonathan the party’s automatic ticket during their meeting.
“Goodluck Jonathan has visited Mamma Daura to seek APC consensus candidacy.
“The cabal members have told Buhari to back Jonathan. The President, some NWC members led by the chairman, Adamu, APC governors and other key leaders of the party would soon meet with all the presidential aspirants at the villa.
The cabals don’t want Tinubu, Osibanjo or Amaechi,” sources stated.
It was previously reported that a Northern coalition had purchased the ruling party’s Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the former President.
The forms were purchased days after Jonathan had asked his supporters to “watch out,” when he was asked if he would contest.
He however rejected the gesture, stating that he wasn’t aware of the steps taken by the group neither did he sanction their moves.
