EKO HOT BLOG reports that Dr.Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for governor in Lagos State has met with Abiodun Alabi, the state’s commissioner of police, to discuss the alleged plight of the market’s vendors.
The businessmen claim that when they were attempting to register for PVCs, they were accosted by thugs with political aspirations.
According to recent reports, miscreants who were said to be loyal to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, attacked the traders who turned out in large numbers to take part in the continuous voter registration drive because they were thought to have a soft spot for the PDP.
Jandor consequently urged the law enforcement agency to take aggressive measures to protect all state residents and guarantee that no group of persons is denied the right to exercise their civic duties.
The candidate for governor also called the commissioner of police’s attention to a growing trend of vandalism and outright destruction of banners bearing the logos of the state’s opposition parties.
As no party has a monopoly on violence, he pleaded with the State Police Command to warn the ruling party against taking retaliatory action.
In his response, Alabi, appreciated Jandor for the visit and assured him that the state police command will remain unbiased and apolitical.
He enjoined all political leaders in the state to control their followers as the law enforcement agency in the state will not allow any form of violence and political unrest.
