Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, some Presidential aspirants in the two major political parties in Nigeria, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have dumped their presidential ambition to back other aspirants in their political parties
1. Dr Doyin Okupe (PDP)
Okupe, a former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
He declared his presidential ambition back in 2021, but in March he decided to withdraw to back a Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and 2019 PDP Vice-presidential Candidate,
According to the Ogun State-born Okupe, it is the turn of the South-East Region to produce the Next President of Nigeria if Equity Justice and Fairness are put into consideration.
2. Moses Ayom (APC)
Moses Ayom, leader of Middlebelt Presidency agitations, was also one of the Presidential aspirants vying under the APC, but he dropped out about a week ago. Ayom was actually endorsed by Southern leaders back in December 2021.
