Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Lagos East residents to vote for All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates in the zone.
He made the plea at a mega campaign rally in Ikorodu organised by the Lagos East chapter of the APC.
According to Sanwo-Olu, who reeled out his administration’s achievements, voting for APC candidates in the senatorial district will further cement the gains of his administration’s THEMES agenda.
Speaking to the crowd at the Ikorodu Town Hall ground, the governor called the various APC candidates in Lagos East by name. They include Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Rep. Bayo Balogun, Rep Wale Raji, Hon. Mojeed Sulaimon, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Hon. Ajayi Oladele, Hon. Ogunkelu Oluwaseun, amongst others.
He urged the electorate in the district to vote for the APC candidates from the presidency to the house of assembly.
“You’ve seen them all. These are your candidates from the Presidency to the House of Assembly. Each one of you should tell others to vote for our party candidates from the top to the bottom,” Sanwo-Olu said.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Senators, House of Reps. Members and House of Assembly. Please, make sure you all collect your PVC at the designated centers and vote for all our candidates.”
The governor informed the gathering that the Oba Sekunmade Road would be commissioned before the end of the year, hinting that President Muhammadu Buhari will be invited to commission the iconic Imota Rice Mill by January 2023.
He also reeled out landmark projects scattered on the Lagos East landscape for the benefit of the people such as Lekki Deep Sea Port, Imota Rice Mill, Dangote Refinery, Election junction-Epe Road, and many more awaiting commissioning by the president.
On his part, Senator Abiru told the teeming supporters that it was important to explore an evidence-based campaign. He added that such campaigns with verifiable evidence across the Lagos East Senatorial District are capable of swaying more undecided voters to the APC fold.
“What I want to charge us to is to take this evince from council to council, street to street, house to house, and doorstep to doorstep. What we need is to make sure that we have 75% of our votes for the President, the Governor, and other candidates. Thank you for this opportunity, God bless you all,” he said.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog on the sidelines of the rally, the Lagos East Vice Chairman and Deputy Director-General of the APC, Barrister Olayinka Oladunjoye, thanked Sanwo-Olu and his deputy for heeding the call of the party.
She also commended the elders and leaders of the party for their commitment to the ideals of the party.
“Our party members were fantastic as they added color to the event coupled with the peaceful atmosphere. This points to the fact that we are making steady progress in our political culture. Lest I forget, all Local government and LCDA Chairmen alongside members of the Lagos East campaign committee were supportive and I dedicate the success of the event to them,” the party chieftain said.
Earlier, some commissioners present at the mega rally ground gave account of their stewardship.
