Tinubu met with South West Muslim leaders in Oyo.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has met with the leadership of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN).
This online media platform gathered that the APC flagbearer met with the Muslim leaders on Sunday at Jogor Centre, opposite Liberty Stadium on Liberty Road, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
After the meeting, the group endorsed Tinubu as the next President and promised to support the presidential bid of the former governor of Lagos State.
Recall that the group had said the town hall meeting is an opportunity for Muslims of Yoruba Land to push for their interest and make themselves counted in the process of electing the next Nigerian leader.
The President of MUSWEN, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Secretary, Professor Muslihudeen Yahya, said in a joint statement on Saturday.
The statement read: “Never in the history of Nigeria has any Yoruba Muslim from South West of Nigeria stepped into Aso Rock either as president or vice president. Akinwale Wey, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Earnest Shonekan, Chief Oladipo Diya, and Professor Yemi Osinbajo have been given the chance before but they are all Christians.
“But now a capable and eminently qualified Yoruba Muslim has emerged as the presidential candidate. All Muslims of the South West are duty-bound to support him.
“The Glorious Qur’an says, “Inama al-Muminuun ikhwah”, i.e.. Verily indeed Muslims are all brothers and sisters (Qur’an 49:10).
“Therefore, the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) invites all true Muslims, Shaykhs, Imams, Muslim traditional rulers, Muslim title holders Islamic organizations, Islamic institutions, and madrasahs to join us this Sunday, 11th December, 2022 as we endorse our own, Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“Also invited are representatives of market men and women, artisan groups, small business owners, people in academia, Muslim representatives of the two major drivers unions, okada riders associations, traders union, and those who are physically challenged.
“This is not about any political party. It is for the survival of Islam in Yorubaland where our religion is under constant threat. We are therefore inviting all Yoruba Muslims regardless of their political affiliation.”
