2024 Kayokayo Festival Committee Unveils Programme Lineup At Olu Epe Palace

Eko Hot Blog reports that the unveiling of the 2024 Kayokayo Festival took place on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Olu Epe Palace.

The event was presided over by HRM Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, Bamgbopa Esinlokun I.

The conference was attended by national and community media representatives and a delegate from the State Government, Hon. Giwa Muritala (Moore), SSA to the Governor and Youth Leader in the community.

The ceremony was also graced by the Olu Epe in council, including Balogun High Chief Musiliu Kadri Odedeogboro and Sarumi High Chief Sobaloju Muyideen.

The festival, which runs for eight days, is coordinated by a planning committee led by Otunba T.J. Abass, with Mrs. Olushola Alade Raji serving as Chairman of the Publicity Sub-committee, who highlighted the programme details. Hon. Shamsideen Adio heads the Venue Subcommittee.

The 2024 Kayokayo Festival will spotlight three monumental aspects:

1. The celebration of Prophet Noah’s disembarkation from the Ark,
2. The commemoration of Great King Kosoko of Lagos’s landing in Epe in the 19th century,
3. The culmination of the Ileya festival with food and merriment.

The 2024 festival, which started on Saturday, July 20, 2024, will conclude with a grand finale featuring Fuji music star Sule Alao Malaika on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Festival Programme:

-Day 1: Islamic Lecture and Quranic Quiz Competition.
– Day 2: Annual Special Kayokayo Prayer
– Day 3: Kayokayo Parade – A colorful procession through the streets of Epe
– Day 4: Novelty Match
– Day 5: Youth Day
– Day 6: Visitation to Royal Homes
– Day 7: Jummat Service with Royal Fathers
– Day 8: Grand Finale featuring a Carnival Procession in the morning, Olu Epe’s Procession to the Waterfront, and an all-night fiesta with music from King Sulaiman Alao Adekunle Malaika.

The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of Epe’s culture and heritage, offering a range of activities to engage both residents and visitors.
