Austin Eguavoen has emphasized that the Super Eagles players must take responsibility for turning their fortunes around.

The Eagles will kick off their qualifying campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a home match against the Benin Republic’s Cheetahs on Saturday, September 7, in Uyo.

Following that, they will travel to Kigali to face Rwanda on Tuesday, September 10, for their second match.

The Eagles have struggled in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, having failed to secure a win in any of their four matches so far (three draws and one loss).

Ahead of the upcoming doubleheader, Eguavoen expressed confidence in the team’s ability to turn things around.

“Nigeria is a nation that in terms of football a lot of countries respect and there’s no difference in this one,” Eguavoen said on NFF TV. “I am very confident that we will scale through in this two games and beyond.
