The dawn of a new year fills us with hope, aspirations, and the promise of brighter days ahead. By God’s grace, 2025 will be a year of fulfillment, where we achieve our collective goals.
While 2024 presented significant challenges to many citizens and households, I am optimistic that the New Year will bring renewed opportunities and greater prosperity.
Economic indicators reflect an encouraging outlook for our nation. Fuel prices have steadily decreased, and we recorded foreign trade surpluses for three consecutive quarters. Our foreign reserves have grown, and the Naira has strengthened against the US dollar, providing stability.
The stock market’s record growth has generated trillions of naira in wealth, while rising foreign investments signify renewed confidence in our economy. However, the high cost of food and essential medicines remained a pressing concern for many Nigerian households in 2024.
In 2025, our government is determined to address these challenges. We will intensify efforts to reduce costs by boosting food production and encouraging local manufacturing of essential drugs. Our target is to bring inflation down from 34.6% to 15%. With hard work and God’s grace, we will achieve this and provide relief for all Nigerians.
EDITOR’S PICKS
This year, my administration will expand access to credit for individuals and key sectors to enhance national economic productivity.
To this end, the federal government will establish the National Credit Guarantee Company, which will strengthen financial risk-sharing mechanisms. The company, a partnership between government institutions, the private sector, and multilateral organizations, will commence operations before the second quarter ends.
This initiative will increase credit access, particularly for under-served groups like women and youth, driving growth, re-industrialization, and better living standards.
On a personal note, I thank you for placing your trust in me as your president. Your confidence humbles me, and I remain committed to serving you diligently.
We will continue implementing vital reforms to foster sustainable growth and prosperity. I urge everyone to collaborate with us as we pursue our vision of a one trillion-dollar economy. Let us remain focused and united.
We are on the right path to building a great Nigeria for all. Let us not be distracted by a small segment of society fixated on politics, ethnicity, region, or religion.
Achieving our national objectives requires unwavering devotion to Nigeria. Citizens’ moral integrity and patriotism are critical to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In 2025, we will reinforce adherence to ethical principles and shared values through the National Identity Project. The National Values Charter, already approved by the Federal Executive Council, will be unveiled in the first quarter.
This Charter will foster mutual commitments between the government and citizens, promoting trust, cooperation, and unity. It will be accompanied by a national orientation campaign aimed at inspiring love for our country and collective action toward progress.
Additionally, we will host the Youth Confab in the first quarter of 2025, underscoring our commitment to youth inclusion as nation-builders. The Ministry of Youth will soon outline the selection process for representatives.
Dear Compatriots, I urge you to maintain your faith in yourselves and our beloved country.
Governors and local council chairpersons should collaborate with the federal government to seize opportunities in agriculture, livestock, and tax reforms. I commend those who have embraced the Compressed Natural Gas initiative and adopted electric vehicles as part of our national energy transition.
To all citizens, your sacrifices over the past 19 months have not been in vain. Together, let us stay the course of nation-building.
The New Year will bring us closer to the bright future we all envision and the Nigeria of our dreams.
May God bless you all, and may God bless our beloved country, Nigeria.
