Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said that the growing wave of defections by governors, senators, and other politicians from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a result of the bold reforms and policies introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Governor Sule made the remark while formally receiving Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada back into the APC at an elaborate ceremony held at the Government House, Lafia.

He said the return of Senator Wadada and several members of the State House of Assembly who recently defected to the party had further strengthened the APC in Nasarawa State.
The governor congratulated Senator Wadada for his decision to return to the party, describing it as a reflection of his confidence in the leadership style of the APC at both national and state levels. He also commended the state party chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, for his efforts in promoting unity and stability within the party.
“It is because of the good and courageous reforms President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is introducing that today, at every meeting of progressive governors, we are welcoming new members, including governors, into our party,” Governor Sule said.
He revealed that during a recent meeting in Kebbi State, the APC welcomed Governor Peter Umba of Enugu State, adding that more governors were indicating interest in joining the ruling party.

“We have a courageous president making decisions for the benefit of the country, and governors across the nation are recognizing this. They are returning to our party not just to win elections but because they align with the President’s policies,” he stated.
The governor noted that since President Tinubu assumed office, no governor had left the APC, a development he said underscored the party’s growing strength and credibility.
“In 2011, the PDP had almost 30 states but lost several before the next election. If a ruling party is not performing, it loses members. The APC is retaining and attracting more because it is the right party today, tomorrow, and forever,” he said.
Governor Sule commended President Tinubu for sustaining public trust through reform-driven leadership, saying the APC had regained its presence in the National Assembly with Senator Wadada’s return.
In his remarks, APC State Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, applauded Senator Wadada for rejoining the party, saying the progress of the APC in Nasarawa State was built on the peace and unity fostered by the Sule administration.
Senator Wadada, in his response, expressed gratitude to the governor and party leadership for receiving him warmly back into the APC.
“I have returned to my home, the home I laboured for, served, and contributed to its growth. Your Excellency, I thank you for vindicating me. Back in 2019, destiny played out differently, but you have not disappointed the people of Nasarawa State,” he said.
The senator praised Governor Sule for elevating the state’s profile and reaffirmed his commitment to work with the party to achieve greater development for the people.
“Life is about movement. If you have a reason to move, you move. If you have a reason to return, you return. I am happy to be back home,” Wadada said.
