Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor announced his decision on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, describing the move as one taken “in the interest of Rivers people.”

Fubara disclosed that he had obtained the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before making the switch to the ruling party.

His defection, long anticipated by political observers, follows several closed-door meetings with President Tinubu as well as the recent defection of 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the APC, deepening shifts in the state’s political landscape.
