Known as the ‘King of Clay,’ Nadal claimed a record 14 French Open singles titles, winning an astonishing 112 out of 116 matches at Roland Garros—an achievement unmatched by any player in Grand Slam history at a single tournament.
Nadal secured four US Open titles, two Wimbledon titles, and two Australian Open victories.
He also earned Olympic gold in both singles and doubles and helped Spain clinch four Davis Cup titles, the most recent in 2019.
Alongside Novak Djokovic and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, Nadal was part of the iconic ‘Big Three’ that ruled men’s tennis from the early 2000s, captivating millions of fans worldwide.
“What a career, Rafa! I always hoped this day would never come,” Federer, who famously cried alongside Nadal when he retired in 2022, said.
“Thank you for the unforgettable memories and all your incredible achievements in the game we love.
“It’s been an absolute honour.”
