Jemima, a Mass Communication student of Federal Polytechnic Mubi, reportedly received the breakup news while visiting her boyfriend, believed to be a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola.

Sources said that she killed herself because she could not accept the breakup.

Jemima who hails from Garkida, in the Gombi local government area of Adamawa state, passed away in her home at Vinikilang, close to ATV Yola, where she was completing her industrial attachment.

Jemima was said to be the only daughter of her father, who unfortunately had to inform the police of her tragic demise.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the incident on Monday, January 29, saying that while Jemima’s father simply stated a case of suicide, a separate source brought in the matter of Jemima’s soured relationship.

Nguroje said: “The father of Jamima reported that she committed suicide by taking a deadly substance. Another version had it that she visited her boyfriend, a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University Yola and was told to quit the relationship. Angered by the news of exiting her boyfriend, the deceased took poison.”
