26 States Yet To Reach COVID-19 Testing Target – Chairman PTF, Boss Mustapha

  • Presidential Task Force’s Chairman on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, revealed on Thursday only the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Lagos State had attained the target of testing of one percent of its population.

He explained this during the joint national briefing of the taskforce in Abuja, said aside FCT and Lagos, three states had passed the 50 percent testing rate.

Mustapha stated that 26 states of the federation are still unable to get to 25 percent testing rate.

The PTF Chairman , who is also the secretary to the federation, said the states were Plateau, Gombe and Rivers.

He made a reference to the last briefing, he said they had listed all its observations in the research and when the time is right, it would be presented at the 8th Interim Report and recommendations to President Muhammadu Buhari to finalise the National Response to move into the next phase.

Mustapha emphasized that the report is focused on the primary goal of consolidating on the achievements registered in the National Response over a period of six weeks which ended on October 13.

He said:

“At least 26 others are yet to measure up to 25 percent. This is considered a serious problem which is further compounded by the increasing general apathy and disbelief about the risk of COVID-19 in Nigeria.”
