The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 35 fresh coronavirus infections across six states and the federal capital territory (FCT) on Saturday.
With this figure, a total of 277 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in one week.
The new cases were confirmed in the agency’s update for May 22, 2021.
A breakdown showed that Lagos, the hardest-hit state in Nigeria, recorded nine positive samples, followed by Kano and Yobe with eight and seven infections, respectively.
Other states that recorded infections include Rivers (4), Akwa Ibom (3), FCT (2) and Katsina (1).
The NCDC reported zero deaths on Saturday, leaving the total number of coronavirus casualties at 2,067.
Also, the daily count of recoveries increased slightly with six patients discharged on Saturday, raising the total to 156,468.
A total of 165,979 coronavirus infections have now been confirmed across Nigeria, since the first case was reported on February 27, 2020.
