28-Year Old Man Stabs Mother-In-Law To Death For Questioning His Effrontery To Beat Wife

A 28-year old man, Opeyemi Adeola Ganiyu did not realise the extent anger could go when he was challenged by his mother-in-law, for his effrontery to beat her daughter.

The woman, Abosede Oyewole. was at her own residence in Atan area of Ota when information reached her that her daughter who is married to the culprit was being violently beaten by the husband.

The tip off she got was that the man was fond of beating his wife on slight provocation and in this instance, multiple injuries have been inflicted on her due to severe battering.

This was what apparently infuriated the mother-in-law to take the tough stance of confronting the culprit, cautioning him never to dare beat her again.

 

On sighting the deceased in his house, the culprit descended heavily on the woman, beating her mercilessly before stabbing her on her ribs with a knife.

The deceased was rushed to hospital for treatment, but gave up the ghost in the process, it was learnt.

Having heard that the victim has died, the culprit reportedly fled the area.

Following a report of the incident, the Divisional Police Officer, Atan Ota Division, CSP Abolade Oladigbolu there and then detailed a team of detectives to track the man and bring him to justice.

The detectives embarked on intelligence-based investigation, which led them to his hideout in Ikorodu, Lagos state, where he was eventually apprehended.

Preliminary investigation revealed that, the suspect is a member of notorious cult group in the area,  EKO HOT BLOG gathered.

He was also alleged to be one of those who led hoodlums to burn down Atan Ota Police Division during the Endsars protest, which led to the death of the Divisional Crime Officer in October 2020.

Police spokesman in Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi,, when contacted, confirmed the story.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
