Swollen gums are not so common, so you shouldn’t be too alarmed. You should not, however, disregard them. Instead of running to the pharmacy for medications, you may simply try these home remedies that help treat and ease the discomfort associaed with swollen gums in less than a week.
If your gums are still swollen after a week of using home treatments, see your dentist for a correct diagnosis and treatment.
Saltwater
Rinsing your mouth with salt water can help reduce inflammation and aid the healing of the affected tooth.
How to use
Rinse the mouth with the solution for about 30 seconds.
Avoid swallowing the solution, spit out
Do this 2 to 3 times a day until the swelling disappears
Warm Water Compresses
This can also help reduce pains and swellings from swollen gums.
How to use
Then squeeze out excess water.
Hold a warm cloth against your face for about 5 minutes, Or
Wrap crushed ice in a piece of clean cloth and press on the face for 5 minutes
Repeat this about 2 to 3 times daily
Hydrogen Peroxide
This can help treat red, sore and swollen gums. Use only 3% hydrogen peroxide solution only
How to use
Swish the mixture around your mouth for about 30 minutes
Spit it out; don’t swallow
Do this 2 to 3 times daily until the swelling disappears
