Edo APC Calls For Obaseki’s Resignation Over Declaration On Campaign Activities
The Edo APC has called for Obaseki’s resignation as governor of the state.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Edo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has once again called for the resignation of the state governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The Edo APC said the new call for Obaseki’s resignation was due to his declaration last Friday that governance will take backstage in the state, as the focus now is on campaign activities.

The chairman of the Edo APC, Col David Imuse, who had hitherto to the governor’s statement asked for his resignation over poor governance said Obaseki’s resignation would pave way for the Independent National Electoral Commission the opportunity (INEC) to prepare for a new governorship election in the state.
This online media platform gathered that Imuse in a statement signed by the party’s deputy publicity secretary, Ofure Osehobo noted that Obaseki’s new call for the state to expect a slow pace in governance was evidence of how governance has collapsed in the state.
He said the renewed call has however heightened the fears of many in the state that governance has finally been paused.
The Edo APC chairman further stated that Obaseki’s announcement only proved what Edo people knew about him running out of ideas since his re-election for a second term.
He claimed that the situation was so because Obaseki misplaced the original copy of his manifesto titled, “Make Edo Grounded Again,” and “his co-travellers and business partners have not been unable to get him an alternative.”
Imuse advanced that “it was funny that the statement came from Governor Obaseki that governance in the state henceforth will take the back seat while he gallivants, campaigning for the presidential candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.
“The result has been for the Governor to stay away from Benin City, the state capital as often as possible, while pretending to be busy searching for investors, signing agreements or MOUs, or campaigning in an election in which he is not a candidate.
“The irony of all these is that Mr Obaseki who was even described as a tenant in the party and did not attend the embattled PDP Presidential primary with a single delegate is biting more than he can chew.
“Even the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku, is busy attending to his numerous investments in Dubai and France while other bona fide PDP governors like the chairman and director-general of the Campaign Council respectively, Mr Udom Emmanuel and Aminu Tambuwal are still doing their jobs”.

“This goes to confirm our conclusion that Edo State today is not a democracy but a dictatorship with Mr Godwin Obaseki as the Executive, the legislature and the Judiciary, hence our call for the governor to resign with immediate effect,” the statement read in part.
