The police, on Wednesday, arraigned a 35-year-old man, Adedero Bamidele, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of rape.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 8, at Emure-Ekiti in Emure Local Government area of Ekiti State.
Ikebuilo said that the defendant had unlawful canal knowledge of the 17-year-old girl.
She said that the defendant, after raping the girl, shaved her pubic hair.
Ikebuilo said that the offence contravened Section 2(2) of Ekiti State Gender-Based Violence Prohibition Law, 2019.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable her duplicate the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, remanded of the defendant in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the DPP.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till March 31, for mention. (NAN)
