4 Chronic Diseases That Regular Exercise Could Help Manage

EDITOR’S PICK:

Regular physical activity has numerous health benefits. Physically active individuals are much less likely to develop chronic health conditions than inactive individuals. Moreover, if you already have one of these conditions, physical activity is an excellent way to manage or reverse your symptoms.

Exercise has beneficial effects on virtually every cell in the body. Physically active individuals are less likely to develop chronic diseases, whereas sedentary individuals are more likely to develop virtually every major chronic illness.

In this article on EKO HOT BLOG we would be looking at some chronic diseases regular exercises could help manage.

1. Diabetes

There is an inversely proportional relationship between exercise and diabetes. Experts recommend that patients with high blood sugar take a walk after their largest meal because glucose is required for muscle function.

Exercise transports glucose from the blood into the muscles. This reduces your blood sugar, making it less likely that your diabetes will become unmanageable or that you will develop diabetes.

In other words, staying active has a similar effect on blood sugar levels as medications such as insulin. For some patients, it can help decrease hyperglycemia naturally and reduce the need for medication.

2. High blood pressure

Physical activity can have a significant impact on hypertensive patients. This is because the greater your weight, the greater your risk.

If people with high blood pressure adopt a healthier diet, begin exercising, and lose weight, they may be able to reduce their blood pressure medications or even stop taking them. This could entail a reduced dosage of medication or even achieving a healthy blood pressure range without the need for medication.

3. High cholesterol

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, many individuals can reduce their cholesterol levels without medication by adopting an exercise regimen and making other lifestyle changes.

Cardio-based exercise routines will get your blood pumping and your heart beating. This is extremely beneficial for weight loss and improvement of your heart health, which are both aspects of reversing heart disease, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

4. Osteoporosis

Everyone needs weight-bearing exercise, especially as we age. Osteoporosis is a significant issue for women in particular; you don’t want to reach 70 and all of a sudden have such fragile bones that you fall.

Weightlifting and other weight-bearing exercises stress the bones, causing them to absorb more calcium. This strengthens bones and reduces your future risk of osteoporosis or osteopenia.
