The Lagos State Government on Monday said 48 per cent of people infected with COVID-19 in the state are not aware that they are carriers of the virus.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi made this known at a briefing on Monday in Alausa Ikeja, Lagos.
According to him, the state is currently treating 16 per cent of COVID-19 severe cases, while one per cent are in critical condition.
“48 per cent of people infected with COVID-19 have very mild symptoms or even asymptomatic. Some of them don’t even know they’re carrying the virus,” he said.
Eko Hot Blog had on Sunday reported that the Lagos State Government sealed Lekki Waterside and 11 other event centers, recreational outlets and clubs for allegedly violating the COVID-19 protocols.
The state has been witnessing an upsurge in the COVID-19 infection which made the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to impose new restrictions in the the state to curtail the spread of the virus.
