A healthy diet promotes good vision, whereas an unhealthy diet promotes bad vision. However, the phrase “healthy eating” is very ambiguous. So, how do we know which foods to avoid for good eye health?
The vast majority of unhealthy foods, including those that are bad for your eyes, fall into one of these categories.
In this article on EKO HOT BLOG, we would be looking at some foods that could damage your eyes when taken regularly
1. Fried foods
Even if it is a tasty treat, your body will not appreciate it if you constantly load your plate with fried foods.
Fatty oils used in the preparation of fried foods are, without a doubt, not eye-friendly ingredients. Again, research has shown that certain foods can raise cholesterol and cause AMD. By clogging the arteries, high levels of bad cholesterol increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, and possibly vision loss.
2. Sugared beverages
Sweetened beverages are another common suspect that has been added to the list of foods that are bad for your eyes. Consuming excessive amounts of sugar, including those found in fizzy drinks, can increase your risk of AMD, as previously stated.
3. Flavoring meat
It is widely accepted that eating processed meats is harmful to your eyes and overall health.
I’m talking about high-salt processed lunch meats like cooked ham, bacon, and sausages. Salt has long been used as a preservative, but it is now frequently added in large quantities to food, which can be harmful to your health.
