5 Reasons Arewa Youths Don’t Want Tinubu To Celebrate His Birthday In Kano Govt House

News broke today that the Northern Youths under the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) called the attention of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State to express their dismay concerning the planned celebration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s birthday party at the Government House.

The first reason given in the statement signed by the group’s National President, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, was that Bola Tinubu kept quiet when northerners were attacked in Oyo State and other parts in the South-West (such as the market clash and famers-herders clash in the South-west). They claim the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bola Tinubu, did not speak against the attack on Northerners in the Southwestern region.

The second reason given in the statement was that Bola Tinubu kept mute when assets belonging to Northerners were being destroyed in the South-West, ‘under the guise of hunting down imaginary herdsmen’.

The group claim Kano State is the financial nerve centre of the North and a symbol of the region’s cultural and historical pride. it should therefore not be turned to a birthday party venue for Tinubu since he is not an official of any government in Nigeria.

The group also pointed out that Lagos state has never done the same thing to even the most respected politicians or private individuals from the North.

They also questioned why the Tinubu’s birthday had to be celebrated in Kano State Government house and not inside the Government House, Alausa, Lagos state. According to them, an event centre in Kano State or a stadium would be an alternative to using the Kano State government house.
