Speaking on the Abu Azeez Podcast, the 35-year-old former Super Eagles striker and top scorer at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations said he’s interested in playing in the NPFL again—but only if the right things are in place.
“I’d love to play in Nigeria again, but my safety must be guaranteed. I also want to keep my promises and not just return for show,” Ighalo said.
He explained that coming back after almost 20 years of playing abroad won’t be easy unless the league has improved.
“If the league gets better and some problems are fixed, more Nigerian players abroad will want to return and end their careers here,” he added.
